Nuclear power has shown it self to be overall good for the environment. True Fukijama was a mess, a tsunami, but still, if care is used where to put these things, you can have safe operation. And it is good for global warming, whether you believe in that bugaboo or not. That is why India wants the Russians and even the Americans to help them build another 12 nuclear power plants ASAP.
The nuclear waste is a resource that can be largely recycled. We just need the political will to do it.
