Pens can be a great way to promote a company, because the information is on something useful for many months. The problem with circulating leaflets on paper is that it goes to the garbage, usually within a day, or in a week's time, maximum. So, go on, don't be ashamed to spread your message, or at least a company name, address and phone number on a fairly cheap pen. That way you will be helping the environment in a real way, by giving out something that lasts a while.
A good way of thinking as an environmentalist is for more and more dual-use technology. For example, if you use pens to promote your business, then you are advertising, while giving away something that is a useful writing instrument. Dual-use technology has had a bad reputation, with the focus on nuclear electric power plants that are also somehow involved with the potential to make nuclear weapons. However, even in the case of weapons, it is always a question of turning swords into plowshares. And in any case, the pen is mightier than the sword, in an ultimate sense. That is why, next time you put together your business' advertising campaign, it is time to think about personalized pens. Helping the environment in a real way is not easy. For example, we had everyone going hysterical about global warming, and now ice-free ports are freezing up. In Dalian, by the old Port Arthur in northern China, the Bohai bay has frozen up. Ironically, Dalian is usually an ice-free port, and a war was fought by Russia and Japan, in part because Japan desired to take this ice free port from Russian occupation. It is much better to be an environmentalist by recycling your garbage and things like that. These wild global climate theories don't work anymore, it seems, at least in respect to Carbon Dioxide so-called pollution. So use your pens, they can be mightier than the sword.
