Bering Strait Project to Change the Environment

Everyone talks about "preserving the environment" but what about making the environment better. That is what it means to civilize and settle the polar regions. We have Alaska, a huge area of over 500,000 square miles and about 600,000 people. Siberia is more populated, but also in bad shape. It is time to listen to Russian rail chief Yakunin, and build the railway tunnel under the Bering Strait and connect Russia to Alaska. Due to the extreme environmental conditions of the area, a tough or even a Maglev railroad would be far better than cars and trucks.
