Short Animation

This is a sponsored guest post written by Matt Kelland on behalf of Moviestorm. Post powered by Sponzai.

Moviestorm is enabling a new generation of amateur film-makers to realize their visions.  It offers easy, affordable animation tools that can produce sophisticated high-quality films on practically no budget. After several years in development, Moviestorm has demonstrated that home movie-making needn’t be limited to cheap hand-held cameras and clips of the kids goofing around. Its virtual movie studio allows users to break free of the limitations of the real world, and allows them to direct, film, edit and distribute 3D animated movies without any knowledge of animation techniques or 3D modelling. And best of all, it's free, and comes without any copyright restrictions.

Iain Friar, known as IceAxe, is one of Moviestorm’s many successful film-makers.  His short film, Clockwork, a dystopian vision of a totalitarian Britain after a Soviet invasion in the 1980s, is winning accolades and awards around the world, most recently the audience prize at the Atopic Festival in France and the Grand Prize at the Machinima Expo.  Clearly influenced by both 1984 and A Clockwork Orange, with a visual style that evokes both Communist era propaganda posters and more recent animated movies such as A Scanner Darkly, it is a stark, powerful film that belies its modest origins.

Iain, who's 42, works in marketing, and started making movies just 18 months ago. “I’ve always been a hands-on person, in music, sport, and everything else,” he says. “I thought it would be fun to shoot a music video, but I’m not the most technical of people, and it seemed extraordinarily hard.  I remember when computer games started using in-game animation to tell the story instead of video clips, and this interested me, especially now that game technology has become so sophisticated. So I bought a book, Machinima for Dummies, which had Moviestorm on the CD, and I was hooked. I liked Moviestorm because it did what I was looking for, even though I didn’t really know what I was looking for at the time, and the Moviestorm community was very supportive.  I initially made comedies, but I could see that the movies people respected were more dramatic, so it seemed that was the direction to go in.”

He spent four months working on Clockwork, and then the same again on his next short, Cloud Angel, a steampunk thriller set on board an airship.  Apart from the voice acting, he made the entire film himself at his home in Basingstoke, England.  “I'm lucky that my friends are so willing to step up to the mike and read my silly scripts!” he laughs. His next film is Gridlock, a science fiction comedy which he is co-producing with another successful Moviestorm director, James Thorpe.  For this, they’ve stepped up the production costs a notch: they hired a recording studio and got the local amateur dramatic group to do the voice acting.

Iain is realistic about his future, though.  “Am I ambitious? Yes. Do I want to keep it as just a hobby? Well, probably yes, because I imagine that if it became a full time activity, the fun might go out of it. I make movies as escapism. That said, I think that this industry would be really interesting to work in, because it's embryonic; I'm not sure what direction it will go in. It's exciting!”

Moviestorm’s CEO, Jeff Zie, is hugely enthusiastic and supportive.  “Iain and the many other Moviestorm users are an inspiration to us all,” he says. “We’re really proud that we’re giving talented people like this the tools they need to unleash the creative potential they never knew they had, and to produce these wonderful films.”

Try it and see!

You can download Moviestorm for free: Windows and Mac versions are available. If you want, you can expand your virtual film studio and buy extra costumes, sets, props, and sounds in their marketplace. If you've ever wondered whether you might be the next Tarantino, Ang Lee, or J J Abrams, now's the time to find out!

Obama going to Copenhagen Global Warming Conf

President Obama is going to the Copenhagen, Denmark global warming conference. Apparently he is responding to orders given via the UK's Prince Philipp's World Wildlife fund. While the economy collapses and we enter a new dark age, Obama wants to sign an agreement to have LESS energy and LESS industry. Plus after the East Anglia Univ., UK emails have been released, more and more people can see that the imminent threat of global warming is a total fraud. This is a problem that may not exist. If it does exist, it can be solved over the next 100 years with the implementation of nuclear and fusion power for electricity and desalinating seawater, which are real human problems.

Holiday Airfare Deals from my Friend in Paradise!

This is a sponsored guest post written by Ali Kendall on behalf of airfare-now.com. Post powered by Sponzai.

Just wanted to send a quick "shout-out" across the Pacific to my friend Ali in sunny Honolulu, Hawaii!

Ali runs the airfare-now.com website with all kinds of tips, coupons, strategies, etc. for findng holiday airfare deals. Now airfare comparison travel sites have come a long way in the past few years but there are still literally thousands of them to choose from. So here's a big aloha and mahalo to Ali for keeping it simple on a pretty nifty little travel website!

East Anglia and Global Warming Fraud

The release by hackers of years of emails from climate researches from East Anglia university in the UK is a bombshell. There has not been any global warming for 15 years. There has been global cooling for nine years. And yet the crap has continued, with apparently criminal acts by these scientific researchers and others. They deliberately lie to keep the global warming game going. This could totally blow up the upcoming Copenhagen conference on "Climate Change."

Free Torrents of Games and Movies

Ever wonder about getting free torrents of things like games and movies? Get green stuff about global warming, acid rain and the environment. You can do a sort of a term like-- environment-- a get a whole slew of TV shows, movies, books and lots of fun GAMES, kiddies. You can get a torrent of a full movie, and it is totally free. Sure you can try to just google something, but you are not likely to get a torrent. There are real benefits to this site. It has a very simple interface, with a powerful search engine to get what you want.

Then you can download lots of games, music, films for free in a very short amount of time without the fear of downloading empty and not complete file. The other great thing is that the site is updated regularly.

I searched --movies-- and got a lot of new movies to see. I searched -- environment-- and got plenty of stuff about that too.

Sustainable World, Environment Unfurled

Sustainable world, environment unfurled;
Just like an old dirty, looking for a girl;
We need higher, and higher energy flux density;
to make civilization's new possibilities;

Absurd, absurd , absurd, absurd, feels so good;

The solar panel and the wind power;
don't really work;
You spend money building them, and then lose your shirt;
Fission and fusion power can get us going to Mars;
Get in the Maglev train, and leave your parking cars;

Absurd, absurd, absurd, absurd, absurd,
But, it feels so good;

(spoof song, disco tune- "Tender")

Create a New Environment- on Mars

The only way we humans can control our environmental problems is to be able to create a new environment. We need to have that feeling of control, of everything from water resources to fears of global warming. True, on earth we can create a rain forest, a zoo park and nature preserve for animals, and so on. However, only by creating a new environment on another planet, will we have total mastery of the environment. This is green in the true sense, of growing the forests on Mars. The moon is good too, especially for mining Helium-3, the ultimate fusion energy fuel. It gives off charged particles in its reaction, thus is much easier to control. Space really is the final frontier.

Environmentalists and Fast Food

Do environmentalists and fast food go together? They can, but a good greenie will feel awfully guilty when leaving McDonald's or the local deli. Stopping at the corner deli during lunch is fun, and commercial cooking is more efficient in using heat and food than cooking at home.

On the other hand, there is the problem of plastic and all that. I guess packaging is a problem, especially if you are a greenie of the Gaia-centered faith. It's a hard situation. Let's face it, cooking at home is often hard to do. It takes time, and even sometimes is more expensive. So go green or go crazy, but watch where you're going.

Monetize My Tweets, in a Green Daydream

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Sponsored Tweets. All opinions are 100% mine.

Monetize my tweet, in a greenie daydream. Some green person, give me the environmental angle on this. In 140 letters or characters, I can say a lot. sign up for sponsored tweets and go ahead and tweet your way to fortune and fame. Now you should know in advance that unless you have 200 followers, you cannot tweet and be chosen by advertisers.

Is it very hard to get 200 followers? Not if you are tweeting from your computer or your phone on a regular basis. A good tactic is to follow a lot of people. Not something huge, but say you follow 200 new people this week. If you are tweeting regularly, some of those people are going to follow you. If you do that every week, that is- follow 200 new people, you probably are going to get it on and have the 200 followers. Either that or something bad will happen. I don't know, can you get banned from twitter just for following lots of people. I don't think so. As long as you are not spamming people and bothering them, I think it is okay to follow lots of people.

It seems that sponsored twitters can be a fun thing. It will not become boring, because you get to do your 140 letters or characters, which is about 25 words. Then it is over, and you can go on and tweet somebody else about something else. Twittering does not involve a long attention span. To be sure, we used to have the 15 minutes of fame of the late Andy Warhol slogan. Now we have the 140 letters/characters of fame that can last for about a minute or two. No, my fellow Americans and earthlings, these days we don't have a long attention span.

Green Cleaning, Is It an Issue?

There has been some write-ups of green maid, and green cleaning services. If you are making enough to buy such services, you are probably quite rich and wasting natural resources. A hostile greenie may want to clean you up first. However, the oligarchy, and the rich speculators in greenie bubbles have to play this game. They want to feel consistent with their beliefs, even though they know that it will never work that way.

I've heard that green cleaners are too weak to make it. Though, I really like the low energy light bulbs like the little fluorescent bulbs and LEDs.

The Environment in Siberia

The environment in Siberia is an interesting question. It can be green or whatever, but it has to become productive. It is known that there are a huge amount of raw materials in Siberia, which is part of Russia. Hey, Siberia could use some global warming, don't you think? Now with the new deal between Russia and China, this area could soon undergo a vast upsurge of economic and physical development. Humanity needs to make a breakthrough and destroy this British imperialist system. LaRouche's webcast is today on larouchepac.com at 1 pm. So check it out and see if there is a way for the USA to work with China, Russia and India, and actually save civilization from a total breakdown crisis. Already Russia has developed Siberia quite a bit, from the great Trans-Siberian railroad project of the 1905 era. Then it led to war between Russia and Japan, but now, new projects can lead to peace and cooperation.

See Great Greenies, Enter Contest

Check out the iLASIK Video Contest, and you can see the environment better than ever before, with an iLASIK procedure.

They have this great contest that you can still submit to at gottaseethisnow.com so you can submit your own videos, or just look at the funny videos that have already been submitted. The grand prize is $5,000 which is about the cost of a iLasik procedure. I guess they can't just make the prize an iLasik procedure, because first you have to go to your local doctor and find out if the procedure is right for you, or if in your case you need an improvement of your vision.

I voted for the first video I saw because it was very sweet. It was about this 9 or 10 yr old girl Shelby who was celebrating her birthday party. The girl wears glasses and was told that at her age she cannot get the iLASIK procedure yet, so she was very unhappy, though her folks bought her a monopoly set as a present. A whole gang sang happy birthday to the girl, but she still wanted to get her eyes corrected with iLasik, so she doesn't need glasses anymore.

Next I saw a much shorter video, but still it was clear and urgent. It was of a 25-year old man, or so, who loves to snowboard. He was complaining that even with contact lenses he has problems when they fall out and they are itchy. The dude wants to win the contest so he can afford to get his Lasik surgery.

The funniest entry was two fat guys who were obviously couch potatoes. They were sitting around staring at the latest football game or something. They were talking about how great it would be to get iLasik. The problem is that they both sit around so much, the only obvious benefits would be that they would be able to see their food better and the television set better. However, after some discussions, these guys realized that with an iLasik procedure they would have more incentive to engage in swimming, tennis, and other sports, and also chase the girls. So iLasik would inspire them to get off the couch and do something, if they only had the money for it.

For a Green Environmental Vacation

Green environmental vacations are hard to find, but try to do it. I remember when I volunteered to work on a kibbutz farm in Israel. It was real green living, but there were space constraints. Couple ended up taking blankets and doing their thing at night in the fields.

A new alternative on this is to volunteer to work on an organic farm. It may be what you are looking for, and there are organic farms in these programs in the United States. Check out a great organic farm in Church View, West Virginia. You can volunteer there for a minimum 3-week stay, which is enough to get some out-in-the-fields action, if it's not too cold by then.

Translation and the Environment

Find out about brand translation for your blogs about the environment, to enlighten people in all different languages. Brand translation defines advertisement for your new brand in a foreign language. This is not as simple as making up any words that correspond to the meaning in the original language. Brand translation means translating your brand, whether it is a green product or idea, in a way that will promote in the new language and the new market.

Only the largest companies get to hire a full-time in-house translators. Most others must contract out this sort of work. Why not go to this linked website where they will let you register for free, and then for pay do small bits of piecework if necessary. It is a good deal in this environmental, and globalized era, where we must talk to people in many languages, all over the world.

Enviromentalism as Art

The BETA art show this weekend at Bushwick, Brooklyn, NY gave me some new ideas on what is environmentalism. Environmentalism can be defined as sort of a green art. You can often recycle industrial locations and turn them into environmental art, like what was done to an abandoned gas station in Brooklyn. It becomes an educational site, with big displays on the rapacity of the petroleum industry posted by the former gas pumps. Put up big posters on the horrors of Global Warming and Climate Change on the car lifts in the former auto repair site. Best of all, you are saving the environment because you have changed what was a formerly productive site to a non-productive site that has no emission or pollution problems at all.

Modern Furniture Can be Modern Art

Let's look at some modern furniture and the environment around it. Some of this furniture can make you think of the sun and solar power, like the burst mirror design. This is a circular design with a big whole in the mirror, and then little mirrors in a systematic array stretching out from the middle circle like the rays of the sun. Of course, it does not actually produce solar power, and it is not that good as a mirror as well, but it is kind of pretty and fun. You get the feel of environmentalism indoors without doing anything, marching or praying. It is just a new way to depict the sun and it's cute.

Another cute piece is the Centre Dining room table. It's fun looking at these pieces of modern furniture, sort of like going to the museum to see modern art. Unlike going to the Guggenheim Museum in NY, you can look at the linked website and see the furniture for free. And then, unlike the museum, if you really fall in love with a piece and decide you have to have it, you can buy it and have it shipped to your house, ordering online. This Centre Dining room table piece is made out of dark brown solid hardwood, or maybe it comes in other colors. It is a solid base that tapers inward somewhat, and then there is a space ship sort of shaped top. As cool as this dining room table is, it actually seats 4 to 6 people. It can be shipped around the country, and only requires light assembly. So if you need a modern art, modern furniture, spaceship-like table, this is where you can go into orbit. Still with the ultra-modern chrome strip at the bottom of the base, I'm pretty sure you are not going to float away, and will have a down-to-earth and pleasant dining experience.

What is Environmentalism?

People sometimes ask me, what is Environmentalism? In a sense, environmentalism is a concern for animals, birds and fish, and the future of the planet, but this leaves out the role of human beings. We humans are also part of the environment, though the environment is also all around us, whether there is global warming or global cooling.

To a certain scary, oligarchical mindset, environmentalism is the control and seizure of everything around us in an area, or possibly the entire planet. We see national parks that are unfair, in that huge areas are eliminated from all human development. Game preserves in Africa lock out the people and cause poverty and destruction. So let's be careful when we talk about the environment.
