For Your July 4th Green Cookout

July 4th is here, and many Americans like to celebrate with a cookout and watching fireworks. If you're planning on throwing a party or hosting a red white and blue event maybe you can add a little green in the mix. Here are some tips to keep in mind while celebrating Independence Day. Think about the local farmers markets and buy organic fruits and veggies, save money on transporting food, bring your reusable green bag. Instead of adding waste to our landfills and purchasing a bunch of paper plates, napkins, and plastic utensils, why not use your own dishes. So what if some of them break, it's a new way of celebrating with broken dish fireworks.

Then there is Grill on the Green side. Some things cook very fast like thin steaks, fish, and marshmallows. Eat some raw carrots and celery, they don't have to grill at all, plus lots of potato chips and dorito chips. Grilled veggies and tofu cook fast too. Watch your carbon count dudes.

I Like the Mini Fluorescent Bulbs

The mini Fluorescent bulbs are nice and they are becoming less expensive as well as being darlings of the environmental and green scene. For $4 or $5 you get a bulb that is squiggly, but can fit in a normal light socket. It lasts for a long time, not forever are friendly to the environment and last usually 4 or 5 times as long as a normal incandescent light bulb. The thing that was surprising is that these bulbs give off only about one-quarter as much heat. This way they can be put into old light fixture that are near the point of disintegrating due to overheating light bulbs. Since the fluorescent mini bulbs are cool, they don't burn up the wires. Cool!

Did Obama Freakout on the Flu?

Obama made his umpteenth public speech and press conference yesterday, and he seemed freaked out. I think he got the word that his phony health care program, actually an insurance company rip-off, is not going to go through. Perhaps this is why he stuck to the environmental issue of the spread of the H1N1 Swine Flu. It just seems he may have to find out that a mobilization against the flu goes against everything that his health care plan calls for. Obama health care is a rationing plan based on the British plan "NICE" which is already killing cancer patients, and people with kidney failure on a regular basis in the United Kingdom. A bit fascist, n'est pas?

Find Web Hosting for your Global Warming Site

Get web site hosting for your global warming or environmental site and then you can cry about global warming till you turn blue, all on the world wide web. You can get the web hosting you need by going to the hosting review site, according to my friends. For example you can find out about all the great features at the InMotion web hosting site, where site hosting starts at $8.95. You get unlimited space and traffic and a free web domain as part of this deal. This site has generally good reviews, with the added wish-list of providing better website traffic information.

There's also lots of important information for setting up your greenie blog and website at the webhostinggeeks.com blog. Get the right balance of Disk Space and Band Width. Before you decide how much band width and disk space you need for your website, look at the three broad categories of website. In a mini-site you have only 2 or 3 pages, with the website being solely a long sales letter, an order form and a contact page. You are selling one or two products, such as an e-book, or a download, and that is the sole purpose of the site. In the second type of site, it is about 10 pages long and has brochures of the major products of a company, and sort of acts as an overall brochure for the company, with order forms and contact page as well. The third type of site, a theme-based site obviously requires the largest amount of bandwidth. It could describe many environmentally friendly products, have videos there for streaming or downloading, have separate sections for building materials, recycling, environmentally friendly detergents, soaps, or even car products.

Cinammon Girl Environmental Car

Neil Young is trying to produce a Cinammon Girl environmental car out of a huge old 1959 Lincoln. Can he do it? Probably, but it will cost you $100,000 or more I bet.
I think he gonna make it somehow, but needs another chance,
You see my baby loves to dance, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

The problem is that these electric fuel cells are expensive and don't really have a big range. We are used to cars that only have to gas up or fuel up every 200 or 300 miles. And that is what Mr. Young has to deal with. Meanwhile for the general public, you may get a chance to get a Chevy Volt, if GM still makes cars and if you can afford it and the probably huge maintenance costs. That's the story on a green car.

Bikes and Other things in Portland Oregon

Portland Oregon is known as an environmentally aware city. There are lots of bikes in the city and bike commuting to work is common. There are also lots of green roofs to make gardens. Portland is said to have hundreds of green roofs that cover about 20 acres of rooftops, and the city plans to add another 50 acres of green roofs in the near future. Green roofs are said to filter pollutants, absorb carbon dioxide, attract birds and insects and emit oxygen. However, you can't just plant any plants on your green roof. Self-sustaining plants, especially drought-tolerant sedums are recommended for your green roof.

One other thing going on in Portland Oregon is the right-to-die. Since 1998 people have been "voluntarily" executed for being deemed a life not worthy to be lived. It is not so voluntary, because people can be under extreme pressure. If they cannot afford the $4,000 a month for the advanced cancer drug to prolong their life, they may be under pressure to get the suicide pill and get it over with. Does this lack of respect of human life have anything to do with environmentalism?

Keep Your Enviroment Your Space, Your Bedroom

Bedroom Sets from spacify.com/bedroom-furniture.htm do their best to keep it your bedroom, your environment, and your own pretty space. Green environmental living in the city means conserving and using space properly.For example storage beds are really beautiful with their big wood base, and plenty of drawers to store things. In today's little apartments in New York City you need all the storage space you can get. Note that they have quick shipping and also free shipping on a lot of the beds. I like the sofa beds and the futons as well. Let's face it, in the crowded environments that people live in the city, it is not easy to have green living. In fact, you run into the paradox that the more we use tight spaces, hopefully in a fancy and beautiful way, the more we are making more efficient use of space and helping to keep the environment beautiful and green.

The Wind and Electricity

Have you seen those ads? That you can get cheap electricity by putting up a little wind turbine plant on your house? Well I don't believe it. In fact, I have gotten reports that the thing is a giant scam. They don't tell you that you need special skills to put the windmill up in the first place. Then you have to buy expensive equipment to change the DC power into AC power. Worst of all, somehow you need a device to integrate this power with that that you get from the electricity company. With the wind blowing irregularly, there is no way in hell that you can get all your power through a wind turbine, or windmill. Where is Don Quixote to rail at windmills when you need him?

Scrubs Magazine and Your Environment

Scrubs Magazine has a lot of say to nurses and really to everyone else. My friends have put together a really nice magazine at http://www.scrubsmag.com/?utm_source=B that you should enjoy. I also liked the nurse of the week link, with a male nurse in this case, Kerry Jeanice, RN, who made a tremendous difference to people when he gave over 40,000 people their vaccinations after the Hurricane Katrina disaster in 2005, in Southeastern Louisiana. Now that the summer season is here, this can put more stress on nurses and their dealing with their environment.

Some of the jobs in the summer can be extremely different. Scrubs Magazine looks at a travel nurse. This nurse may be having visions of partying in the Tucson Arizona desert or by the Grand Canyon, but as usual for a hard working nurse, life can get a lot more complicated than that. Nurses have to deal with new people, with new staff people and in unfamiliar situations. This means that you have to have an open attitude and be willing to go with the flow, and get to work. Being in a new environment on a regular basis can create a lot of stress, so it is important to learn how to relax.

For example the environment can mean looking better as a nurse. The blog at Scrubs advises nurses, meaning in this case female nurses though males can learn something too. First thing is to get clean before they go to bed and get all of their make-up off. You don't want to go to sleep all night and clog all those precious pores, do you? Keep clean, eat right and sleep right. You may want to try to learn to sleep on your back. It sounds funny, but experts say you get less wrinkles on your face that way.

Which is Better for the Environment?

Which is better for the environment? Do produce 2 gigawatts of electricity 90-percent of the time with 2 up-to-date nuclear power plants, or to turn 400 square miles, an area large than New York City, into a giant wind mill farm. I think the latter not only to be absurd, but you have to maintain wind turbine or mills as well as anything else. The whole idea of free energy is only a chimera and the route to no energy. Maybe that is the why Pres. Obama is so intent on destroying health care, in the name of giving "everyone an insurance card." If you are dead, are you really going to care who pays for the health care?

Environmentalists and Voluntaryists

Check out The Voluntaryist Website. There is a lot that environmentalists can learn from this website. We may all be concerned about the environment, but we want our friends and neighbors to voluntarily agree to help the environment. Coercion can backfire in many ways, the first being that you are creating a very hostile population, who become anti-political and refuse to agree to do much of anything. Some of the ideas in this website are radical but they should be considered at the very least in the name of political education. For example, secession is a very radical idea, but the original thirteen colonies issued the Declaration of Independence, which created the United States. The Declaration of Independence lays out the facts before a candid world on why the 13 colonies are seceding from the British Empire and forming a new nation. And we Americans to this day cherish the reasons for this secession from the British Empire, and rightly so.

Getting Ghent Green Out of Shape

In Ghent Belgium they are really going green man, as in vegan people nation. Call it a groove, or a step into the maelstrom, but that is what the environmentalist folks of Ghent are doing. We in the United States consume an average of almost 200 pounds of meat per year, but is that really bad. Eating a lot of meat has always meant to me a sign of well-being and prosperity. Now we are told that we, like the cattle have to get lower down in the food chain, in order to do something nice. We are told that this is the moral equivalent of war for the environment. But just who,---take a look at Prince Phillip of the UK and the 1001 Club--- is pulling the strings in the background. Meatless Mondays are getting a push in the United States. And then in the good old South Bronx at the Point Organization there is the Thursday free meatless orgy every Thursday evening or is it? check it out at thepoint.org. And we can go back to the days of the poor blacks and whites in the South eating some Polk-salad greens that the starving folks could eat.

Sing the song:

Polk Salad Annie
She got you grannie, wooooowoooh;
Everybody thought it a shame;
'Cause ah momma was a workin' on a chain-gang;
Wooowooowooowooooh!

Does the Green Cause want Health Care?

Where does health care come up on the scale of the Green Movement and the Environmentalists? Is there more to health care then eating organic fruits and vegetables, and grain fed beef and chicken? What about when you do everything good and get cancer anyway? Obama says that he seeks universal health care, but the devil is in the details. It is true that the administration is seeking to ration care. Remember, this is a crime that we charged the Nazis with and hung them at Nuremberg for committing.

You can Volunteer for the Green Warehouse Thing

In the South Bronx NY you have the 18,000 square feet, environmentalist Rebuilders Source, where you can volunteer for the environment. They recycle trash used at construction sites. That can be anything from stone blocks to new refrigerators that did not match someone's color scheme. Anyway they are located at 461 Timpson Place, near East 147st St and Southern Blvd, Bronx NY 10455. You can even go there by subway or bus, the #6 Subway stops not too far away. For more information check out http://www.greenworker.coop/website_j/ or you can call them at Tel: (718) 617-7807. Better yet, just go there on Saturday June 6th, either 10am-2pm, or 2pm to 6pm. There is no pay, but they will give you $20 worth of recycled materials if you work a 4- hour shift.

I kind of like this place, because it is very practical in helping people and the planet.

Curing Cancer, Pink Ribbon Gumballs and the Environment

We can be good green environmentalists but we must care about other issues like breast cancer. Your business can buy and distribute Pink Ribbon Gumballs. We need more screening for breast cancer and more mammograms to protect women as much as possible from this disease. And of course we need more breast cancer research to find the cure, or a cure to the many facets and types of breast cancer.

GM and Green Energy

The Greenie glare may seem cool, but how can we afford the ultra-expensive green energy ploy. Now the idea seems to be to retrain the GM workers to do green jobs like re-insulation of homes all over. What if you want to open a window to get a breeze? Will you get arrested? It's crazy.

The Obama plan does nothing to stop the spiraling lost of jobs and economic activity. Obama's health plan is also a disaster. It will offer insurance cards, at the same time that almost 1 million children are about to get thrown off the California States Schips medical plan. The bailout of GM is a disaster, just like the bailout of the real estate bubble. Harlem and the South Bronx, NY you better beware of this phony supporter of Franklin Roosevelt. What Obama is really supporting is not FDR, but the Larry Summers bailout of the financial oligarchy, no matter what it does to the nation. Next is nazi style health care rationing, unless we stop it.

Same thing with GM, a bailout of a bankrupt system, but where are the jobs?
