Grow Food in the City

Do you want to grow food in your city? It's become a popular thing to do with gardens all over the Bronx and even Manhattan in New York City. Whether we should make it an environmental statement or not is another question. This is a comment largely on a Because Action Speaks Louder than Words post.

People have brought up the term food miles, when they consider the cost of transporting food. Undoubtedly globalization has taken its toll, and too much food comes from one place and then is sent thousands of miles. So it is an interesting question, though I don't know if this is the answer. Better, to have a policy to create new farms in lower New York State and in New Jersey and Pennsylvania for the New York City market.

Urban Agriculture is the social movement to create more food growing in cities, often involving organic food, etc.
