Decline of Malls Hits Pottery Barn

The Mall economy is dying all over the place, and now beginning to hit the inner city yuppie economy. The malls have hit the American landscape, and dirtied our green environment. Now the new reports are that Pottery Barn will vacate a large shot at 122 Newbury St., which is its second store closing in the Boston Mass. metropolitan area. Earlier this year, Pottery Barn left South Shore Plaza in Braintree, Mass. There is some speculation that the parent company, Williams-Sonoma Inc., could be going into bankruptcy too, since they have been actively slashing costs and their workforce too. Nevertheless, they have two more store still open in the Boston area, as well as their big store in Manhattan, NY's West side near Lincoln Center.

Other merchants in the back bay, Boston have also been kicking the bucket. The malls are overbuilt. It's time to get rational city-building and land use policies in the United States.
