Greening the Desert to Save the Environment

Yes, it is possible to green the desert and make the environment better. That may not be in the orthodox canon of global warming defense theory or environmentalism, but it's true. A big project is getting support in Mexico in the state of Sonora, called the PHLINO project. It involves diverting water from rivers in the south of Mexico and bringing the water for irrigation of crops in the Sonoran desert.

The project has gained the support of the Gov. of Sonora, Eduardo Bours, who calls for the federal gov't to start the PHLINO (Northwest Hydraulic Plan) right away.

Bours is quoted: "In times of crisis, what is needed is that public spending to be freed up, that investment be made concrete. I believe this is what everyone wants to call upon the federal government to do: free up resources. The other day I insisted to a member of the government who told me there aren't any great projects: But there is the PLHINO. They don't want to hear about it, nor do they want to mention it, but it is a project which generates jobs, generates infrastructure, opens up land for cultivation," There's a lot more on the PHLINO (Link) at LaRouchePac (link) Video NAWAPA-PHLINO.
